25 Minute Timer
A 25 minute timer counts down 1,500 seconds and sounds an alarm when it reaches zero. That is 0.42 decimal hours on a timesheet, or 41.67% of an hour.
A twenty-five minute timer is the work block of the Pomodoro Technique, and the single most used focus interval in any study method.

Your focus time, counted and kept
A countdown tells you when the block ends. PomoTodo records that the block happened, which task it went to and what the week added up to, so a month of 25 minute blocks becomes something you can actually look at.
Free plan tracks unlimited focus time across unlimited tasks. No card required.

What a 25 minute timer is used for
The Pomodoro work block, study sessions and single-task focus.
- One Pomodoro
- Twenty-five minutes of work followed by five minutes of rest is the original ratio, with a longer break after four rounds.
- Single-task focus
- Twenty-five minutes is long enough to make real progress and short enough that starting never feels like a commitment.
- Study blocks
- Twenty-five minutes maps well onto one topic, one problem set or one section of reading.
- Timeboxed admin
- Bounding email, invoicing or filing to twenty-five minutes stops open-ended admin from eating a morning.
25 minutes in other units
- 25 minutes is 1,500 seconds.
- On a timesheet, it is recorded as 0.42 decimal hours.
- It is 41.67% of an hour, or 5/12 of one.
- 2 of them fit into one hour.
- An eight hour working day holds 19, before any break between blocks.
- Against the classic twenty-five minute Pomodoro, it is 1 blocks.
Converting a different length is what the minutes to decimal hours converter is for, and adding several together is what the hours calculator does.

Questions about the 25 minute timer
Is a 25 minute timer the same as a Pomodoro timer?
A Pomodoro timer is a 25 minute timer plus the cycle around it: a five minute break after each block and a longer break after four. This page is the plain countdown. If you want the breaks and the round counter handled automatically, use the 25/5 Pomodoro timer instead.
Why is the Pomodoro block twenty-five minutes?
Francesco Cirillo picked it with a kitchen timer while studying in the late 1980s, and it stuck because it fits most tasks most of the time. There is nothing special about twenty-five beyond that balance, and plenty of people work better at fifty.
What is twenty-five minutes in decimal hours?
0.42 hours.
